On Gratitude: Leaves

I’m grateful for…

Leaves. When one falls in my path, I grin. Then a second or third joins it, and it’s wonderful. It’s a reminder to let go. Every. Single. Time. Whatever is on my heart and mind, I let it go. Whether it’s the times, or what’s on my mind, I say goodbye to it.

More leaves pirouette down. Each one dances on the air. Like a breath, wind spreads through the trees, catching what was once green and sending them down in flurries or one by one.

Maybe letting go of control is like that? You dance down on the wind and feel the ground beneath you. Like the air and your actions are your only promises, until they, too, are let go.

I’m grateful for leaves because autumn reminds me to hold on less desperately. To honor what has to fall and move on.
